Author's notes:
The explanation of the Azrael Block given on page 35 of this story was taken almost word for word from Dean Koontz' novel STRANGERS. Mr.Koontz (as opposed to the character Doctor Koontz who does rather resemble him) is one of my very favorite writers and this story never would have been written without his inspiration

Mr. Koontz has written a number of wonderful cross-genre books that involve a man and woman who work together to overcome some opposing force and fall in love in the process. Since my basic philosophy includes the belief that a couple working together can accomplish anything, I am a sucker for them.

If you are interested in reading books involving hypnosis and brainwashing techniques I suggest the aforementioned STRANGERS and THE KEY TO MIDNIGHT. Other wonderful books by Dean Koontz include WATCHERS, LIGHTNING. TWILIGHT EYES, MIDNIGHT. HIDEAWAY, DRAGON TEARS. DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART, and MR. MURDER (which features a main character who is a Trek fan).
