Autumn Fortune-Knight is a main character in the TikTok series, The Nursery Nurse. Like every other character in the series, she is played by the series creator, Charlotte. She is visually distinguishable through her half-up-do hairstyle and thin glasses.
Like multiple characters in the webseries, Autumn started out as an antagonist, replacing Summer as deputy manager; benefiting from nepotism as her father, Roger Knight, owns the nurseries. However, over time and as the series began to transition towards more story-lines, Autumn, like Marjorie and other characters, underwent a redemption arc and became a more in-depth and complex character than originally portrayed.
Character Overview
Autumn was introduced to the webseries as the new deputy manager and the owner's daughter. She replaced previous character, Summer, as both the deputy manager and the primary antagonist for a period of time. She also continued the running theme/joke of characters being named after seasons.
Many fans of the series considered Autumn to be worse than Summer, as she maintained an outwardly cold and calm demeanour while mistreating both staff and children through various actions. Additionally, as the owner's daughter she was considered significantly more difficult to get rid of than Summer was.
Over time, Autumn was developed to be a more complex character, with some skits and short story-lines introducing elements of her personality that were less antagonistic or which showed positive attributes, including defending staff members and children. Fans seemed to react positively to the potential of a second character being redeemed and Autumn's redemption arc continued over many months. As with Marjorie, Autumn's personality traits remained consistent while she underwent these story arcs.
By 2024, Autumn's character became more of a "guard dog" who was tough and willing to use physical force to defend her coworkers and the children at the nursery. This use of physical force was often played for laughs in the series, which did cause some confusion when the universe "rules" and internal consistency were tweaked over time.
