Australian Decalog was a planned Doctor Who fanzine.
Overview
The Australian Decalog (OzDec) project was conceived by the team at Broadsword as a showcase of Australian writing talent. Inspired by Virgin Publishing's Decalog series of short-story anthologies (published under the Doctor Who Books imprint), the ultimate aim of the project was to submit a proposal to Virgin for consideration. Although events (principally the BBC's decision not to renew Virgin's license) have since thrown these plans into a spin, OzDec isn't dead yet...
The Original Brief
It has been mooted by several people that there should be an Australian Decalog. However it is hard to find people who are strong authors in Australia. We are looking for those authors. With this as an aim we are asking for any one interested to submit a story, according to the guide lines listed below. Of the responses received the authors for the Australian Decalog will be chosen.
The other aspect of this process is to include all submissions in a fanzine to showcase the talents of every author. This fanzine will be released sometime during 1996. Each author will be contacted when their story is to be published.
This fanzine will make an important contribution to fandom writing. It will not only display the talents of authors, but such a fanzine will help to develop the writing skills of all its readers, and slowly improve the quality of writing coming from Australia.
A few things have changed since the original brief, notably the fanzine to showcase the talents of every author that sent in a submission will, sadly, not be going ahead as there were not enough submissions to support such a venture.
