Auf Wiedersehen, Sweetheard is a Hetalia: Axis Powers fanfiction by George deValier. It is part of his greater WW2 AU the Veraverse, based off of the singer Vera Lynn.
Summary
Feliciano Vargas is a passionate, if slightly scared, Italian Resistance member. Falling in love with a German pilot was the last thing he expected...and it will test his national loyalty, and his heart, to their limits.

WW2 AU - Beautifully written. Lovino is a member of the Italian Resistance, but more than that, he is a boy desperate for a fate larger than what he can see in his future. He’s more than a farm-boy, and he’s at the age where he wants an adventure. Well, be careful what you wish for Lovino, because WW2 happens, and with War comes the gorgeous and too enticing Spanish freedom fighter Antonio Fernandez Carriedo.But yes, this is war. What is the point of falling in love when the future is so uncertain? When you could have your heart torn out from you at any moment? Maybe some things are not worth the risk…
If you’re new to George deValier, please read We’ll Meet Again and Auf Wiedersehen, Sweetheart (or heck…EVERY SINGLE FIC HE HAS WRITTEN) while you’re at it. It’s worth it, it’s worth the tears and emotional pain to read such beautiful love stories.[1]
Ok, this fic, is absolutely fucking amazing, You can’t be a GerIta fan and not have read this. The author is renowned for writing heartbreaking, yet amazing and life changing fanfiction, but this has to be my favorite of all of them. I was inspired to watch it after my friend showed me this video. Pretty sure there are more like that for his other fics…[2]
