Au Cafe Pequod is a historical alternate universe X-Files fanfiction by sunflowerseedsandscience. It is set in France during World War II, and focuses on MSR. It is considered to be a modern classic of the fandom.
History
Earlier this summer, I read @mulderswaterbed‘s concept for a WWII-era AU fic, where Scully is a Frenchwoman who owns a cafe and is secretly a member of the Resistance, and Mulder is a disillusioned German soldier who spends all his free time in her cafe. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I did some research, outlined a story, and spent two weeks doing little else except writing it. The fanfic was originally posted to tumblr and AO3 in 2016.[1] It was later taken down before being reuploaded in 2018.[2]

Obersoldat Fox Mulder’s childhood has not instilled him with a sense of faith in humanity, and what little he has left has been destroyed by his years in Occupied France.
