Anita Sarkeesian is a critic who began the Feminist Frequency webseries to explore the portrayal of women in media. She was a victim of, and one of the most famous cases of, cyber bullying during the gamergate controversy where she received death threats. The increased volume and specificity of the harassment (including death threats) prompted Sarkeesian to leave her home.[1]
Beginning in August 2014, supporters of the Gamergate movement targeted several women in the video game industry, including game developers Zoë Quinn and Brianna Wu, as well as feminist media critic Anita Sarkeesian.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamergate_controversy#Harassment_and_Twitter
