Allegiance is fan fiction war thriller written by Jeremy Sadler. It is set in the universe of the novel Fire Lance by David Mace. The story is heavily influenced by The Hunt For Red October (and the movie of the same name) and Red Storm Rising novels by Tom Clancy, so much that it could also be considered fan fiction for those works.
Plot
The USS Allegiance is a US Navy Independence-class attack submarine, the lead of a new class and equiped with the most advanced systems in the world. A new First Officer joins the sub just before final sea trials. During the trials, they receive word of increased tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union and suddenly become embroiled in a shooting war with Soviet submarines. Then the unthinkable: the nuclear missles are launched.
Characters
The original version of the story could be considered an example of "Gary Stu", in that the main character is a self-insert by the author, even with the same name, though the plot does not directly interact with the canon plot or characters. Other characters are based upon, and named after, real people the author knows.
