An Affiliate is "a person or group connected to another group or organization". In fandom the term is usually seen on fansites and blogs. Sites/blogs may have an affiliates page or box with links to other sites or blogs, that are connected to the original site, these sites are often within the same fandom, but may be part of other fandoms. One will also see the phase "we expect mutual affiliation", meaning that if we had your blog/site to our affiliates lists we expect to be added to yours. Affiliates pages may have been a modern replacement for webrings or links pages that were common in early internet fandom.
