Author's Comments
A rather weak story, I think, despite the intense situation at the beginning. At least it gave me an excuse to get away from the “tough guy” stuff that I detest sometimes in fictional characterizations. I mean, in real life, I don’t think “tough guys” experience killing every day and intense life-or-death drama, and just “get over it”, like they do in the tags of stories and TV drama series. I do think that Blair, having grown up without a father, is highly attracted (in an non-sexual way) to masculine men, like Jim and Simon. That’s why their approval means so much to him. Still, I don’t think this story necessarily did a good job of presenting that idea. Perhaps there was too much tell and too little show.[1]
