A Light Shines in the East is a 105-page gen Bonanza novel by Jean Thrower. It is a sequel to In the Valley of the Shadow.
This story begins as the Cartwrights journey to Boston, their last hope to gain some measure of relief for Adam’s strange mystery illness. He is upbeat about the trip, yet death keeps popping up to shadow him, along with a new companion who could threaten others besides Adam. They get in touch with the Eastern part of their heritage and find themselves caught up in the social and political currents of 1850’s Boston.
