SPOILER ALERT ON: "A Kiss is Only a Kiss" by Tallis.

It's got a sort of Bodie I rather like: a very good rendering of casual callousness, coupled with egoistic narrow-mindedness. (It was what I liked in Ember Days.) To quote you: "[He] grinned inwardly, eyes closing at the image, a nice, faceless fuck with a willing female. Shouldn't be hard to drum one up even this late in the day. Or, if Doyle was up for it, maybe a slow, leisurely, session on the divan sucking each other off by turns. Yeah, that would be better, unless Ray was going into a funk. Was a little too early to tell yet, but the arrows were pointing that way." And that would be annoying, wouldn't it? Add this to "you want to make us out like a couple of fairies.?" is quite the perfect Bodie as I enjoy him: homophobic, prejudiced and stupid . As well as the one who takes for granted his right to interfere in all aspects of Doyle's life and asks for details. Your Bodie is exactly what Ann Holly feared CI5 might be: the violence, the need to control himself and others.

Your story is dark, with good lines and a very ambiguous ending, as you have shown that the only reason Bodie accepted to make the scaring effort to face his own emotions was his fear of losing Doyle, and his only motivation to show them, was his need to manipulate Doyle for his own purposes. But once Doyle's got no one else but Bodie, not because he's chosen against Ann Holly, but because SHE has left, there isn't the merest hint that Bodie will explore his frightening feelings further, nor that he will stop manipulating Doyle for his own comfort and convenience.

It makes me wonder how Doyle will react, if he finds out exactly how Bodie's mind works? In my opinion, the story is a very satisfying read. **** END OF SPOILER ALERT [1]

2006

Tallis writes slightly dark, gritty Pros, but she writes them with depth and heart too. This is set mostly during Involvement – what does Doyle need to do to hear the truth from Bodie, and how far is Bodie prepared to go? [2]

2008

I re-read this recently, and really liked it all over again. There are a few things that make me frown at it - two columned stories are harder to read online, too much scrolling up and down; and there's some weird ideas about the way English people (and Bodie and Doyle in particular!) speak* - but I can forgive both for the sake of reading this story.

It's another angsty one, this time mostly from Bodie's point of view, although it uses Doyle's as well. Set during Involvement, we see the lads' relationship, and how Bodie reacts to the threat of Ann Holly. Turns out he's prepared to go to any lengths to keep his man... *g*

The story starts out with a rather good knee trembler, which sets the tone of their relationship, and it had me hooked right there, right until the world is turned around at the end, and we see, of course, the way the lads' relationship is absolutely symbiotic...[3]

I love this story, too! Love all her stuff, especially End of the Line (I think it's called), and yes, you've guessed it, that story is set on the London Underground.[4]

I really like this one too. It was an early read and, along with 'Monopoly', definitely helped develop my kink for alley! sex *g* I like the episode context; the rough, hard sex; their need for each other (symbiosis is an excellent word); the way Bodie confronts Doyle and the lovely moment of surrender when he lets Doyle know how he really feels (without actually saying it!).[5]
