A Fork in the Road is a gen (despite the sprawled and naked Sam Beckett on the cover) 287-page Quantum Leap novel by Carol Davis, illustrated by Phyllis Savacool.
The story is a sequel to the episode "Mirror Image."
From a blurb in The Hologram #7: "If you weren’t satisfied with the end of Mirror Image (and the line “Dr. Sam Beckett never returned home”), this is the story you’re looking for!”
From the frontispiece: "For Sam: Who always wanted to go home. And for Al: Who would have done whatever it took to get him there."
From the Preface
This story is a sequel to QUANTUM LEAP's final aired episode, "Mirror Image". Some brief scenes and lines of dialogue from that episode are quoted or otherwise referred to in A FORK IN THE ROAD, and acknowledgment is hereby given to Donald P. Bellisario both as the creator of QUANTUM LEAP and as the author of "Mirror Image". "Thanks for the memories" are also given to the writers of the other QUANTUM LEAP episodes referred to in what you're about to read.
And of course...the author and artist extend their heartfelt thanks to Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, who through four and a half years' worth of their wonderful performances gave us all a new definition of the word "friendship".
