Perihelion, also called "Peri" (by its crew), "Asshole Research Transport" or "ART" (by Murderbot), is a major character in The Murderbot Diaries.
Canon
In the second book, Artificial Condition, ART lets Murderbot stow away on board, confronts and eventually befriends the rogue Sec Unit, and helps it pass as an augmented human security consultant.
In the fifth book, Network Effect, ART is attacked by alien-infected colonists who capture its crew. With its crew held hostage, ART attacks the new Preservation survey to capture Murderbot. Murderbot fights off the hostiles and ART works with Murderbot and the Preservation team to rescue its crew.
