The Two Broomsticks Fall Fic-a-Thon was a 2006 fanfiction challenge organized by the Two Broomsticks community.

At least some of the stories written for the challenge are hosted publicly at A Turn of the Page (an otherwise private archive).

Background

What is the The Two Broomsticks, you ask? It's the Yahoo Group sansa1970 and I started two years ago to house all of our stories. On occasion, we write challenges set by our members. Usually we receive suggestions and have an impartial third-party pick a prompt for each of us to write.

This time we did things a little differently. First, we agreed that we would each write the same prompt and that we wouldn't share our fics with each other until the unveiling. (very, very hard--never again!) Second, the members of the group voted on the prompt they wanted us to write. Here's the winner:

HP/DM. “Harry and Draco meet ten years after leaving Hogwarts. Harry has defeated Voldemort and is living his life quietly. His world is turned upside down when he meets Draco at a local shop. Draco is quite the flirt. Intense and passionate requested.”

Sansa and I posted our fics this morning. You can read sansa1970's fic, A Mile in his Shoes, here[Dead link], and mine, Coming Home, here [archived from original].

We received over thirty prompt suggestions--all of which were fantastic--so we decided to open up the challenge to all members of the group, resulting in our very own little fic fest. New stories will be posted over the course of the next couple of weeks, written by both veteran and new authors. Check out the tentative posting schedule here[Dead link]. Original Prompt

Sansa and Empathic Siren both wrote Prompt #8: HP/DM. "I'm not used to being loved, it's hard for me to accept it and believe it." Harry and Draco meet 10 years after leaving Hogwarts, Harry has defeated Voldemort and is living his life quietly and lonely, but his whole world is about to get turned upside down when he runs into Draco at the local market. Draco is quite the flirt. Intense and passionate requested.

  • A Mile in His Shoes by Sansa (sansa1970). "It's ten years after the war and a chance meeting on a small island change Harry and Draco from who they've become into who they want to be." NC-17. (1 October 2006)
  • Coming Home by Empathic Siren. "Draco's been searching for Harry for seven years. After finding him, he's determined to make him see reason and return to England. However, Draco gets the surprise of his life when he finds that he's the one who changes." PG-13. (01 October 2006)

  • Of Fools and Gold by Silver Ariel. Prompt #19: "All that shimmers seems to fade away."[2]
  • Original Sinn by aki_hoshi (raven_hunter). Prompt: HP/DM. "Everything is working out according to the plan and that IS the effing problem!!" Post-war. Harry and Draco are Aurors/cops and have to work on a mission together. Part of said mission consists in catching some bad guy to get something from him. In order to do so, it is decided that Harry would seduce him and gain his trust. The guy starts falling for Harry, but he's not the only one... Draco does too. How will he deal with the newfound attraction? R/NC-17 version posted at the author's website (now offline). (Abandoned WIP, October 2006 – May 2007)
  • A Weasley of His Own by mayfly_78. Prompt #27: Draco/Percy. "Appearances really aren't everything, are they?" Post-war: Draco & Percy both manage to survive the war, but Draco thinks he should do some damage control to his social image and decides to seduce/form an alliance with a Weasley. Sequel/epilogue: A Malfoy of his own. PG (05 October 2006)
  • A Joint Surrender by lilyeyes. Prompt #22: HP/SS. "Be my weekend lover, but don't be my friend.” Severus doesn't mind the sex, but he doesn't want a lover... or does he? (October 2006)
  • The Consequences of Spying by DarkAmaz0n. Prompt: HP/SS. "Damn that's hot! NO!!! I'm straight! I like girls, I love girls." A decidedly straight male happens to come across 2 Sevs (result of time-turner) shagging Harry under a shady tree at Hogwarts (or 2 HPs 1 SS). Summer time.
  • Somnolence (Last Thoughts) by Winoniel. Prompt #12: HP/SS. “So this is what love feels like.” Would like to see Sev being rescued by a protective and powerful Harry who appreciates all his sacrifices & treats him the way he deserves. Bonus points if Harry has to deal with the Ministry, Snape's parents (AUs are fun!), jealous rivals and Manipulative/Evil! Bastard Dumbledore in order to get his man. Happy ending an absolute must.
