Definitely yes. A part of fandom that newer fans have probably heard of, but only understand in the context of what they've heard (unless they're crazy investigators like, well, at least half of fandom). - Liz (talk) 17:41, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Harry/Draco

Nominated by Oxymora on June 18, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Yes. Agreed! --PriscillaD (talk) 08:07, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Maybe. Definitely one of the more popular pages. I'm going against the grain, though, to say: if it's already super popular, people have probably already read it. I know we want stuff that's popular, but we'll get fewer clicks if it's so popular it isn't anything folks don't already know. - Liz (talk) 17:41, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes. Good as a starter featured page; I'd question it if the "featured" arrangement had been around for a while for the reasons Liz mentioned. Elf (talk) 19:07, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Lots of newbies, who've read one page if any. Let's go with it. Msilfan (talk)

100% absolutely yes. This is one of those things in fandom where you know what it is, you can use it, but where it came from, most people don't know. -- Liz (talk) 18:59, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Drabble

Nominated by PriscillaD on June 26, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Yes. So many people don't know that a drabble is technically 100 words. While I don't stick to that (bad, me), it's definitely a thing. Very interesting. -- Liz (talk) 18:59, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes!--Alex (talk) 18:12, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes from me. MPH (talk) 18:58, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. I'd like more people to realize drabble had a specific meaning before it started being used for "any short fic." (I've seen 1500-word fics called drabbles.) Elf (talk) 20:11, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. I originally proposed this, so I'm biased. Oxymora (talk) 20:38, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Nomination approved.

MediaWest*Con

Nominated by PriscillaD on June 26, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Yes. Fan-run cons are amazing, and I know that not a lot of people know they exist. Big cons run by different companies (Wizard World, FanExpo, etc.) are fun, but fan-run cons are for fans in a wholly different way. -- Liz (talk) 18:59, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Yes from me. MPH (talk) 18:59, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Conditional yes - I'd like the "individual years" section moved down on the page before it's featured. (I'd like this for any convention; the block-o-links does not add to the experience of reading the page.) Elf (talk) 20:11, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Alpha/Beta/Omega

Nominated by PriscillaD on July 9, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

YES. Very good page. --Alex (talk) 15:13, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. MPH (talk) 19:06, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes, but I think the intro might have to be revised to include a super-short explanation of alpha, beta, omega in the first paragraph? --Oxymora (talk) 10:16, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes. I find this page hysterical. I mean, I'm not an A/B/O girl, but the page itself is great, well-done, all of that. Plus, A/B/O is so popular right now, it's likely to get quite a few hits. --Liz (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Quizilla

Nominated by PriscillaD on July 9, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Yes. MPH (talk) 19:06, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. Good intro, but the page itself is a bit messy, perhaps? --Alex (talk) 09:36, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes, I don't like that the first section is just a list of links. --Oxymora (talk) 10:24, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
update: I worked on rearranging the sections, updated the intro. MPH (talk) 19:10, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. --Syd (talk) 01:17, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes. I agree with Oxymora on this one, but I like MPH's edits, which gets me to a firm yes. Also: LOL Quizilla. Posting those on LJ was just The Best. --Liz (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Conditional yes I'd like the intro to mention that the "fic" aspects of the site were secondary; the current intro looks like "Quizilla is a fic and quizfic site!" Also could really use a lot more internal links. Elf (talk) 19:14, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes. This is a really well fleshed-out article (also Quizilla was my introduction to fanfic, eee) and I think recent edits have helped address the issues Elfwreck outlined above. --Enchantedsleeper (talk) 11:50, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
Nomination approved.

FanLib

Nominated by PriscillaD on July 9, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Conditional yes. It's a very good page, but the intro will need to be reworked. I don't feel it can be transcluded as is. --Alex (talk) 13:37, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Conditional yes. I agree with Alex. --Oxymora (talk) 10:12, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Maybe. I think the page itself needs work. If someone's willing to beef it up, then yes, it's relevant and a fun topic. --Liz (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Conditional yes. I agree the intro needs to be reworked. Elf (talk) 19:14, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

RPF

Nominated by PriscillaD on July 9, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Strong yes--Alex (talk) 13:41, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. MPH (talk) 19:05, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes with the current intro. I don't like featuring a page where the blurb consists mostly of "for works on x see x RPF". --Oxymora (talk) 10:20, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes. I do agree with Oxymora about the intro, though; it could use a little reworking, but I think it's still good enough overall.--Syd (talk) 01:12, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Conditional Yes It's a good page and there are no red flags, but I agree that the intro could use some love. Victorywings (talk) 16:49, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Victorywings
LOL YES. Such a good page, and you've got the lovely divide of people who will read because YES RPF and the people who will read because it's like watching a train wreck. --Liz (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes - I'd love to see a section on the legality of RPF, and possibly a mention of mainstream commercial RPF. (E.g. "Dream date with rockstar" articles in teen magazines.) Elf (talk) 19:14, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes from me. Also, I've rearranged the intro so that the list of "For works on X see X RPF" is at the end - meaning it won't be pulled into the featured article preview. --Enchantedsleeper (talk) 21:28, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
Nomination approved.

Hurt/Comfort

Nominated by PriscillaD on July 9, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Hesitant yes, this is a good page, but I'm concerned that the intro might not be long enough? --Alex (talk) 18:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes, but Alex might be right. --Oxymora (talk) 10:10, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes I think the intro could use some beefing up too, but it's a fascinating page --Somefangirl(talk) 9:05, 3 Aug 2017 (UTC)
Yes I really enjoyed the page as a whole, but I agree with everyone above.--Syd (talk) 01:20, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes What a great page! It was informative and relevant, but I agree that there's always room for improvement. Victorywings (talk) 16:44, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Victorywings
Yes. If you're in fandom, you know what H/C is, so this is pretty much universally interesting. Also, I really like the page content. --Liz (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes Although I'd like to see more internal links, especially in the quoted sections. Also agree that the intro could be expanded. Elf (talk)
I've now expanded the intro a bit with a quote from a relevant essay from TWC no. 25 - can people check to see if that improves the intro enough to satisfy? --Enchantedsleeper (talk) 15:37, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
Nomination approved.

Queer Baiting

Nominated by PriscillaD on June 26, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Yes. This topic is super polarized -- you either hate it or love it. Hate it because, c'mon, not cool; love it because oh, the slash. -- Liz (talk) 18:59, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Great choice! Def. yes!--Alex (talk) 18:13, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes from me if folks take a look at it and make sure there aren't any glaring holes. MPH (talk) 19:00, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes - I'd like to see more internal links added first, as this seems long and complex. Elf (talk) 20:11, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes, but it would be great to expand the meta link section a bit? It currently features three posts by Aja, which seems a bit one-sided. Oxymora (talk) 20:38, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes --Somefangirl(talk) 9:05, 3 Aug 2017 (UTC)

Feedback

Nominated by Mrs. Potato Head on August 30, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Hesitant yes. It's a good article, but the second line of the intro has some grammar issues at the moment and doesn't read very well. I'm gonna see if I can sort it into something that makes more sense. --Enchantedsleeper (talk) 11:57, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left To Lose

Nominated by Mrs. Potato Head on September 28, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Influential story, a well-done study in grief, written by the creator of Dreamwidth, has a lot of moving parts. MPH (talk) 01:38, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
Yes! I like this page a lot, despite not knowing anything about Stargate Atlantis. The commentary is really interesting, as is the 'fannish headspace' concept. Somefangirl (talk) 6:26, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes - I would like the introduction to be a bit longer? I will see if I can make some edits to that effect. But the article itself is definitely fascinating, and I enjoyed reading it. enchantedsleeper (talk) 18:17, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
Yes I do agree with Enchantedsleeper about the intro though. --Syd (talk) 19:14, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

List of Finder Communities

Nominated by Oxymora on June 18, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Hesitant yes, would look better with a more expanded intro? --Alex (talk) 17:43, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
I tweaked the intro a tiny bit. Does that help? MPH (talk) 13:39, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes. I like the intro as it is — it makes me a bit hesitant that there are so many red links, though of course it's valuable as a list regardless. Perhaps it can be scheduled as a featured article a bit further in the future, perhaps a few more of the linked pages might exist by then? After the other four here, I mean. --PriscillaD (talk) 08:07, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Not yet. I agree with PriscillaD. It's a great resource, but right now it's a reference to "things to Google." I think definitely a featured article, but if we can clean up the links, it'll be better. - Liz (talk) 17:41, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Maybe. Also hesitant - yes, is good content; but many of the links themselves are outdated and don't have Fanlore pages of their own. OTOH, it's not a bad idea for some feature pages to be "here's an awesome thing that we want you to know about... see how it's missing stuff? YOU COULD ADD THAT!" Elf (talk) 19:07, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes for all the reasons already mentioned. Oxymora (talk) 20:38, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Maybe: just FYI I edited the first paragraph and updated the Fic Finding page to more clearly distinguish the two.--aethel (talk) 19:04, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes: My feeling is that featured pages can sometimes point to the broadness of the content we cover. --Somefangirl(talk) 9:05, 3 Aug 2017 (UTC)
Maybe I think that both Liz and Elf have good points.--Syd (talk) 01:25, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant Yes I like the idea and I think it could be useful, but I agree that it should be cleaned up first. Victorywings (talk) 16:41, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Victorywings
Nomination rejected. It's been a few months; too many objections and not enough yes votes.

Interphase (Star Trek: TOS zine)

Nominated by PriscillaD on June 26, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Hesitant yes. Not my favorite? Definitely a landmark zine for a few reasons, but I feel like the information is scattered and jumps topics a bit. -- Liz (talk) 18:59, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes? It doesn't blow my mind, but it's a good page. --Alex (talk) 18:11, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes - I'd like to see more internal links added first, esp in the quoted sections. Elf (talk) 20:11, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Undecided. It's a good page with lots of info, but because it's broken up so much and the topic is very narrow, I think it won't capture the attention of many people. Oxymora (talk) 20:38, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Hesitant yes Lots of interesting pictures and quotes. I actually like this page a lot, but I agree that it's a little hard to follow as it is now. --Somefangirl(talk) 9:05, 3 Aug 2017 (UTC)
Maybe. For all of the reasons mentioned above. --Syd (talk) 01:27, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

My Immortal (Harry Potter story)

Nominated by Oxymora on September 27, 2017. As of this writing, the page has a good intro and no content flags.

Not sure. A couple of things that make me hesitate:
  • The introduction contradicts itself: it first states outright that the author is Tara Gilesbie, then later says that "the presumed author is Tara Gilesbie" - and we don't have any context for why this is believed to be the case. This also sits oddly with the Rose Christo thing at the end of the introduction.
  • The article as a whole doesn't feel like it does the topic justice. For instance, it presents My Immortal as a simple parody when to my knowledge, it was never confirmed outright as a parody - to this day fandom still debates whether or not it was really a troll fic. Granted, if we featured it we might get some enterprising editors who added additional perspectives to the article, but I'm still unsure about it.
If I find some spare time under the sofa, I might dig in and try to improve some of these points. But if anyone else disagrees with my take, please, weigh in! --enchantedsleeper (talk) 19:45, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
Not yet. I agree with Enchantedsleeper -- the page needs to fleshed out and updated. Maybe we should wait a bit while the Rose Christo thing settles. --Somefangirl (talk) 6:07, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
Not yet I do think that this is something that should be documented, but I think that the page needs a bit of work. I agree with Somefangirl; maybe we should wait until we get more info to update the page appropriately --Syd (talk) 19:13, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
