Hi! I've been in fandom since around 1998, lurking in Star Trek TOS and Gundam Wing. I've mostly written fic, read fic, and lurked, but I've had a whole lot of fun doing it!
Fannish History
In 1998, my dad gave me my own computer and we got DSL. (I was ten; he loves any new technology, so we had a new computer every couple years.) At that point, I sort of jumped into the fandom deep end. I read, I zined, I ordered tapes -- it was great. (If you're wondering where my parents were for this, the answer is: "Weird daughter hard to talk to, leave alone." Eventually the "weird" turned into acknowledging I have Asperger's an Savant Syndrome, but didn't gain any additional supervision.)
I started really getting involved and actually talking to people (Aspie and talking? What?) in around 2002 with Gundam Wing continuing to lead, but Megami Kouhosei, Yami no Matsuei, and Gravitation piling in there, too. I wrote (really bad) fanfiction that I shared for the first time.
Since then, I've drifted through a lot of different fan communities, met a number of seriously amazing people, and been a memorable fan to exactly no one. ;) I'm pretty sure the only thing I might be recognizable from is the ridiculous war in Gundam Wing fandom regarding 2x1 / 1x2 / 1=2. (Though I really hope not. That was sad for everyone involved.)
Current Favorites
I have this thing where I never really leave a fandom. I keep reading forever, and dropping back to write fic whenever I feel like it. I have big phases -- like most folks -- but I'm usually behind the bandwagon and then lingering like a creepy thing that lingers.
As of 2017, I'm writing a lot of Teen Wolf and Merlin fic (I'll never not be in Merlin, sorry Future!Liz), and reading mostly Teen Wolf, ST:AOS, Marvel 616, and a lot of my old favorites. Quarter life crisis? Something like that.
On Fanlore
Right now, I'm staff on the Fanlore Committee and have been creating a list of things to add for the last two years. Eventually I'll sit down and do it. A lot of old Gundam Wing fandom interaction is on that list (as well as other things, but that's what my brain has found most important?).
Miscellaneous
If you have need of a legal/legalese fanfic beta, let me know! I'd love to help that part of fandom be as accurate as possible, since spreading bad law can be dangerous. :)
