In relation to YouTube specifically, the term "vlog" has a particular emphasis on the documentation of a YouTuber's life, rather than their general thoughts, and has become synonymous with "lifestyle vlogs" where the focus of the vlog is on showcasing a lifestyle rather than a personality or a person's thoughts. Youtubers will often have a second channel for this type of content, particularly if it drastically differs from their usual content. It is one of YouTube's most popular genres of content.
The act of making a vlog is known as vlogging, while a person who makes vlogs is a Vlogger.
