Joxerotica is the het and slash archive for Joxer-centric fanfiction posted to the Joxerotica mailing list. The mailing list was founded May 23, 1998.[2]
Description from an Ashera's Archive, a Xena link guide:
- "The official fiction archive site for the Joxerotica (mailing list) (see mailing lists page). Has adult stories about different characters played by Ted Raimi (mostly Joxer), and has m/f, f/f, and lots of m/m. Stories listed by author, by title, and now by pairing. They are also currently selling copies of a Joxerotica fanzine. Summaries are included."[3]
The archive hosted the Joxerotica Awards that were held at least twice, once in 1999 and once in 2000.[1]
The Fan Fiction on the Net directory lists it as a SeaQuest DSV slash site too.[4]
Group Description page:
"This is an erotica fiction and spicy discussion list conceived and created by the two list goddesses, Ellie and Marti. In the words of our favorite pasta strainer donning hero: "You may bow." ;) We created this list as a means for Joxer enthusiasts, who want to *see* more of the guy, to discuss and share fiction of a Jox-erotica nature. We also thought it would be fun to widen the topic base...so, as long as one of Ted's characters is present let nothing hold you back. This list is subtext friendly, slash friendly <"which one of these is not like the other...">, or just erotic. So, if you aren't over eighteen PLEASE DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. The list goddesses assume that your subsciption to this list is a confirmation that you meet the age requirement. This list is about Ted's characters, not the man himself. If you have any questions, comments, or problems please contact Marti at[redacted] or Ellie at [redacted.
Joxerotica was both slash and het friendly, even gen fiction was welcomed as long as it was labeled appropriately. For the most part the groups co-existed peacefully. Some fans claim that a member rewrote a slash story from the archive into a rape/death scenario, and emailed it to actor Ted Raimi's fanclub members. He included a statement that implied that the fanclub and Joxerotica were disseminating the story with the actor's encouragement. He also argued that slash and horror were integral to each other and that the actor wanted all of his fans to read slash. Many members of the fanclub who had posted fanfiction to the archive panicked, and asked for their stories to be removed for fear they would be booted from the fanclub.[5]
