Trekfic is Star Trek fanfiction. It is an older term used in the early years of the fandom. It came into popularity in the 1970s; the earliest use in print may be in Halkan Council 16 in March 1976, by Paula Smith: "As you may remember, mine was the moose call for professionally published trekfic." It was usually capitalized, but not always.
