Spock/McCoy is the slash ship between Spock and Leonard McCoy in the Star Trek: Alternate Original Series fandom. However, it is not as dominant of a pairing as Spock/McCoy was Star Trek (TOS) fandom; both the new Spock and the new McCoy are frequently paired with other characters. Unlike their original counterparts, Spock and McCoy generally do not interact as notably or frequently in the reboot franchise.
Spock/McCoy and Star Trek (2009)
The first alternate universe Star Trek film released in May 2009 and offered several scenes with McCoy and Spock interacting directly. Though indirectly, McCoy's first comment about Spock is "I like him" after Kirk's academic trial. Though their relationship turns combative shortly after, specifically regarding Spock's decision to have Kirk marooned on Delta Vega.
Interestingly, McCoy and Spock do not have any conversations alone in the 2009 or 2013 films, as there is always another character present during their interactions.
Spock/McCoy and Star Trek Beyond
The third alternate universe Star Trek film was released in July 2016, to mixed acclaim but generally positive fandom reception. The film notably enabled the first major Spock and McCoy interactions for the reboot franchise, offering a number of scenes featuring McCoy and Spock interacting together without other characters present. Much of their time on screen involves being separated from the rest of the crew.
Likewise with the amount of screentime dedicated to the two, the creative response from the Spock/McCoy community was relatively greater in comparison with the 2009 and 2013 movies.
