In a nutshell, I lurked multi-fannishly for a few years on boards & y!groups (Jossverse, Harry Potter, The Fast & the Furious), and then took the participatory plunge via HBO's OZ. Some kind soul had uploaded the entire series to YT -- in <i>ten-minute clips!</i> -- and wow, the characters made me want to write them. So I did.
