Medda Larkin, alternately called Medda Larkson, is a vaudeville performer and supporting character in Newsies.
Fandom
Medda is frequently positioned as a motherly figure to Jack Kelly, and sometimes other newsies as well. As this became especially common after the Broadway adaptation, in which Medda was played by a Black woman, fans have been criticized for playing into mammy stereotypes.
