Silence Day, also known as Impossible Astronaut Day, was a day in the Doctor Who fandom when fans were encouraged to draw tally marks on the back of their hand, reminiscent of an interaction with the aliens known as the Silence. The event was marked on April 23rd, the date of the airing of the creatures' first appearance in 2011's The Impossible Astronaut.
As the years have gone on, the popularity of this day has waned. As of early 2021, the day appears to have been mostly forgotten about in much of the fandom.
