The term fannish diaspora is used for large movements of fans from one platform to another. In 2014, it is often used to talk about the waning of fannish activity on Livejournal and the rise of Tumblr fandom. It is also used to talk about the movement from zines to the internet, from mailing lists to Livejournal, and other similar changes that led to large generation gaps in fandom. 'Fannish migration' is also used in a similar manner.
