F/X: The Series is a television series based on the film F/X starring Cameron Daddo, Christina Cox, Kevin Dobson (season 1), Jacqueline Torres (season 2), Carrie-Anne Moss and Jason Blicker.
Canon
The show focuses on Rollie Tyler (Cameron Daddo), a special effects man in NYC, who assists NYPD detective Leo McCarthy (Kevin Dobson) in capturing criminals. In the second season, Dobson's character was killed and replaced with Mira Sanchez (Jacqueline Torres).

"During the course of the series, a small number of fan fiction stories--also called fanfics--were written by the fans, but the amount of stories was very limited. This, however, was destined to change. Ironically, it would be the end of the series that became the real beginning of FX fan fiction. The end of the second and, as it turned out, final season of FX: The Series left a lot of questions in the minds of the fans. The fans wanted answers to these questions, but, sadly, they discovered that there would be none forthcoming from the series itself. These unresolved issues spurred many of the fans to seek their own resolution to what occurred in the series finale. Thus began a large-scale fanfic writing frenzy. The fans, many of whom had never written a fan fiction story before, put their imagination, ideas, and viewpoints into words and gave the FX community a treasure of fanfics. Every story has its own take on the world of FX, the stories as varied and unique as the authors who wrote them. But every one of them shares a common love for the series and its characters. They are an enduring legacy of a series that is no more.[2]"
