Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer 4vs1 survival horror game in which players are either survivors, with the objective of powering up a generator and escaping the map, or a killer, who tries to catch them and hook them as a sacrifice to a dark entity. It's also called "a deadly game of hide and seek".

Fandom
It's common for works in this fandom to have tags belonging to other Fandoms, from which killers or survivors originally come from. Due to the nature of the game being similar to that of crossovers, fanworks may also present areas or characters that, while not present in Dead by Daylight, are present in the games associated universes, such as Jason, from Friday the 13th, who has crossovers with A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The fandom has a few popular pairings that involve a Reader instead of another in-game character. The pairings with Reader tend to be with a killer, with stories emulating in-game situations of the reader being a survivor and either trying to escape the killer or already in their grasp.
