Cringe compilations are collections of "cringey" texts, images or videos. They are not inherently fan-related but often are. Fanart from DeviantArt is often featured. Fanart can also be mocked for featuring political or religious themes, yaoi, unusual kinks, or crack ships. Many fans have criticized cringe compilations, claiming they target autistic, young or lgbt+ fans. This has led to the phrase "cringe culture is dead" becoming popular as a response on tumblr.[1]
Fandoms
The Sonic the Hedgehog fandom is a common theme, and even has a twitter account dedicated to Sonic cringe.[2] My Little Pony and furry fans are also often mocked.
