Arthur Thompson (1927–1990), often known as ATom, was a prolific British fan artist, editor and writer from the 1950s onwards. He was the main illustrator of the influential fanzine Hyphen and won the TransAtlantic Fan Fund. He was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist in 1967, 1968, 1973, 1974 and 1987 but never won. Fanzines including his work won the Nova Award in 1986 and 2010 (the first Nova Award ever won posthumously). He was awarded the Rotsler Award posthumously in 2000. His art still occasionally appears in fanzines such as Ansible and Banana Wings.
