X-Files Fanfic Addiction Site was an X-Files Fanfiction archive and community that was hosted at Geocities where fans that where "addicted" to fanfiction could find help and talk to other fans that suffered from the same demise. Of curse, the site didn't take itself seriously. It even offered a 12 steps program and a shock therapy attempt (which consisted of an NoRomo fanfiction called DREAMSCAPE by Paula Mackey).

The archive contained "Classic Shipper" MSR Stories.

Site content

  • Are you addicted?
  • How to avoid real life
  • 12 step program for addicts:
  • 12. Delete all bookmarks pertaining to X-Files fanfiction.
  • 11. Unsubscribe from every X-Files mailing list. Even that Mulder/Scully married one you swear you don't subscribe to.
  • 10. Hide your mouse. Or even better, have a friend hide it. (We recommend keeping a paperbag handy in case of hyperventilation.) *Step 10 NOT recommended to those who read fanfiction at work. The XFFFA is not responsible for unemployment as a result of missing work and/or equipment.
  • 9. Read six WIPs in a row. If you're not fed up by the end of the fourth one, you can skip steps 8 through 4 and go directly to step 3.
  • 8. Go on a trip to the Antarctic. While there, you can fantisize about what Mulder and Scully *really* did on the ice, but we at the XFFFA have it on faith that it's rather difficult to establish an internet connection down there.
  • 7. Go find your box of printed out fanfiction and burn them. Burn them all. Even Rachel Anton and Anne Haynes. Yes, we know it's hard. For those of you that are of age, go ahead and take a nice big swig of Bacardi 151, we know it is difficult, this'll help you cope. For those of you pyromaniacs, give the fire a swig of 151, it makes a really cool whooshing sound.
  • 6. One word. Badfic.
  • 5. For those of your 'Shippers--Freindship Fic or Slash. For those of you Noromos (Ee-gads, are you BLIND?) MSR's or Slash. For those of you Slashers(What the hell is wrong with you people?) Songfic.
  • 4. Try the weening method. Cut down to a few a day, then one a day, then one every few days. Pretty soon, you'll only be indulging in fanfic when pregnant or PMSing, and by God, you're allowed!
  • 3. You have a new mantra-- "Gossamer does not exist. Gossamer does not exist." Repeat this to yourself often. While driving, cooking, exercising and most importantly while online checking email.
  • 2. Start reading *real* books. You know, Michel Crichton, Tom Clancy. It doesn't require a mouse, monitor, or internet connection, and it's easier on the eyes. For those of you that dwell in Smutville, pick up a cheap, cheesy romance novel at the grocery store, you'll get your fix, but you won't have to put up with disclaimers, categorizations, or ratings.
  • 1. Okay, if you've made it to number one, and you're still hooked-- you have a problem. But we're here to help. Have you ever seen the movie "The Goonies?" You know that scary guy in the basement? Yep. 'Fraid so, we'll have to do that to you. But hey-- no one ever said that quitting was easy. Or fun.

  • Here we list those who thwart our fanfic happiness -- you know who you are! You drown in feedback, cackling behind you're keyboards and UST, cutting us off right before the denouement. Well, no more, because at the XFFFA, we're fighting back...
