Vernon Dursley, commonly known as Uncle Vernon, is Harry Potter's uncle by marriage.
Vernon's wife, Petunia, and son, Dudley, are Harry's only living blood relatives after his parent's deaths when he was one year old. Vernon and Petunia raised Harry, but abused and neglected him in an attempt to "squash the magic out of him."[1]
In fanfiction, Vernon's canonical mistreatment of Harry is often taken to extremes, such as depicting him as sadistic or sexually abusive. Vernon/Harry (almost always non-consensual) is the most common pairing for Vernon after the canonical Vernon/Petunia.
J.K. Rowling stated on Pottermore that although some fans hoped to see a better side of Petunia in the last book, "nobody ever seemed to expect any better from Uncle Vernon, so they were not disappointed."[2]
