I write fic, sometimes vid, sometimes draw or paint or craft, maintain a few websites, create graphics, and recently have gotten caught up in the creation of fanmixes.

I entered fandom in 1999 through Sailor Moon. I can't quite recall the details, but I was still pretty new to the 'net at that time and signed up on a couple mailing list groups -- back in the day before Yahoo!Groups took over everything. I met people who became long-term friends in this fandom. I explored my first "official" fanfiction contributions here as well as fanart (the concept was foreign to me prior this time). I wrote exclusively het fiction at the time - Mamoru/Usagi (a.k.a. Darien/Serena) and later Seiya/Usagi.

However, as I continued to watch more of Cartoon Network's Toonami I entered Gundam Wing fandom where I learned about yaoi. I had already been exploring the fandom of Ronin Warriors (Japanese title: Yoroiden Samurai Troopers) and quickly turned to yaoi in that fandom as well.

In the midst of this I watched more and more anime, read a bunch of manga, and somehow found out about Yu Yu Hakusho which I quite fell in love with. While Kurama was my favorite team character, I became fascinated with the youkai Karasu, an enemy character. Thus began my interest in ravens and crows and all the symbolism and mythology behind the birds. (Karasu is Japanese for crow.)

By the time I entered high school I was interested in other fandoms. I began to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stargate SG-1. While Buffy never developed into a major fandom for me, I did fall in love with SG-1 and still will go back to pick up stories. I learned about slash and got drawn into writing more fanfiction. A friend gave me a code to join LiveJournal (yet, back during the invite days) and I was on my way to a whole new area of fandom.

2009 marks a decade in fandom and I've written over 200 stories by a count done last summer. I can't believe it, to be honest. So many stories, pieces of art, and even music vids from over the years. It's amazing to see how much my writing has improved, too, though obviously you'd think it would when considering my first Sailor Moon fic was written in middle school!

Today I remain consistently active in The Dead Zone. I'm also pretty active in (both contributing or viewing) Firefly, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Final Fantasy VII and Pirates of the Caribbean. I remain a primarily slash writer and reader.

Note: Over the many years in fandom, I've had many, many screen names (as children are prone to do). Since high school I have had my name of Scifiroots but before that names included -- Sailor ClearMoon, Lionna Mouri, Shinigami Goddess, and Karasu. And some variations thereof... My anime/manga largely reflects my poor writing skills from my beginning days (I rarely visit these fandoms anymore) and the archives where my stories were kept before I established my own site are mostly forgotten.
