Someday Out of the Blue is a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan story by Tilt.

Summary: Qui-Gon gets hijacked while on a mission by a young speeder-bike racer who turns out to be more than he seems. Bad Guys are popping out of the woodwork, but what would they want with a speeder-bike racer?

Author's notes:

This one is once again UNRELATED to Storms & Fury AND the Mystics AU. It came about at the happy convergence of a picture, a song, and a weird dream. Originally posted on the Master/Apprentice mailing list. I've included the header information. Another "What If...?" kind of story where Obi-Wan did NOT become Qui-Gon's apprentice but instead took another path in life. Tie-Dyed Wookies, speeder bike races, virtual reality, and funny t-shirts. I personally think this is one of my best stories so far![1]

Recs and Reviews

This is one of the most entertaining stories I've ever read.

Qui-Gon is taken on a merry journey by three unlikely companions -- a tie-dyed Wookiee, a young girl in a tube dress and plaid jacket, and most intriguingly of all, a speeder-bike racer with golden hair, who does sublime justice to his skin-tight racing gear.

The culture clash between the dignified, duty-driven Jedi and these youngsters is hilarious. They seem to be interested only in junk food, virtual-reality games, and loud music. But somehow, danger follows their escapades, and Qui-Gon slowly realizes that something important is going on.

The contrast between the uptight Jedi and the sex-on-a-bike racer is also hilarious, but much more than that. Opposites attract, and the sparks between these two men ignite into something extraordinary. Love, humor, action -- you'll be cheering for Qui-Gon and Branden, along with their friends, during the entire rousing adventure.

Be prepared to smile.[2]
