Issue 39: Excerpts from the Letters

You finally got me to put my rambling thoughts on paper and send you this LOC. After seeing your kind mention of Finding Each Other, how could I not respond? Actually, I have two things that I'd like to accomplish with this letter, to introduce myself to all of you, and to publicly thank all of the people whose paths have crossed mine, whose lives have touched mine, all because I had the great good fortune to fall in love with a "TV show".... ....I stumbled into the tunnels, quite by accident, sometime during the summer of 1990, when I saw "Walk Slowly", "The Chimes at Midnight", and "Invictus." Talk about being hit upside the head with a 2 by 4! I can't even begin to describe the emotional impact those episodes had on me. Vincent had me, hook, line and sinker!

(I guess that makes me a "horrid little Vincent-lover"). I was filled with so many questions, but there was no one to give me the answers. Then, lo and behold! I discovered "Beauty and the Beast" on the Family Channel! There is a God after all. Slowly, the blank spaces were filling in. But there was still such a feeling of aloneness. Was I destined to be the only person on earth who was profoundly touched by this miracle? Surely, this was a gift meant to be shared with others. But, where were they?

And then came the day that I found Creation, just weeks before their New York convention last May. I went there, not knowing what to expect, and unfortunately, unable to stay for very long. But I was there long enough to learn about South of Oz. What a wonderful, incredible, memories-enough-to-last-a-lifetime weekend that was!....

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 39

Liz Helm of the 'International' sent along a lengthy comment that could not be reprinted [in Pipeline] except in its entirety per her request. At 2 full pages that was not possible. At any rate, Ms. Helm did have her say in issue #39 of the letterzine "Once Upon a Time Is Now." In her letter to Pipeline, Liz of course suspected this editor's facts and motivations. But I'm afraid her admission that only an approximate few hundred fans actually cast nominating ballots [for Beauty and the Beast Fan Quality Awards] in the first place (less than half those that attended Tunnelcon itself) speaks for itself about the credibility of these 'awards.' The nominees' excellence, however, needs no defense. I continue to dispute Liz' comments published in "Out, In." I'd like to go on record as the person who suggested Cynthia Hatch to Ed Gross when he had first started looking for fan writers for his B&B series. I consider Jeanne Cloud and Beth Blighton friends of mine; I voted without hesitation for Sue Krinard's work during a stint as art contest judge last year. 'Nuff Said. [1]

Issue 40: Excerpts from the Letters

First of all, I'd like to say that reading "OUT...IN" recently has been an extreme pleasure. I enjoy the positive letters immensely. I, for one, always dreaded opening my mailbox only to find another "hate-filled" letterzine, especially one that included LOC's from people I liked and respected writing things against people I liked and respected. I'm so glad that finally seems to be over!....

....So, you ask, did Debbie Ristick have a good time at TunnelCon II? The answer would have to be a loud, resounding yes! Aside from everything and every moment slipping by so quickly and four nights of very little sleep, the entire weekend was perfect-I wouldn't have changed anything and I can't wait to get the video so I can relive it all over and over again!

So Betty and Carol, when's TunnelCon III?

For the record, I think the third season was excellent and won't criticize those who loved it, but it just doesn’t bring me any joy. And I'd like to see Diana pair up with Elliot!....
