Korse in the Danger Days comic books

Korse is a fictional villain who first appeared in My Chemical Romance's music videos for Danger Days and was later featured in the comics.

See Wikipedia.

In the videos, Korse is played by comic book writer Grant Morrison.

Music Videos

In "Na Na Na," Korse and several draculoids are shown chasing the Killjoys and the Girl in the desert. Korse eventually catches up to them and captures the girl after a final showdown, telling the Killjoys to "Keep running." The chase scenes are interspersed with scenes suggesting that Korse and the Killjoys have a long history.

In "Sing," the Killjoys enter Battery City and the BLI headquarters to rescue the Girl. Korse, who is revealed to be an android, is sent after them. By the end of the final battle, the Girl has been rescued but all the Killjoys are dead at the hands of Korse and the draculoids.

Comic Series

The comic series, by Gerard Way and Becky Cloonan, shows much more about the character of Korse, and picks up the intrigue shortly after the music videos end.

Issue Two- 'Ghost Stations'

Korse's first appearance in the series is in the second issue, on page 1. It starts with a flashback to his troubled and abusive family life and ends with him being reprimanded by the Head of BLI for his flagging performance in the aftermath of killing the Killjoys.

Issue three- 'Blind'

Korse, having been demoted to Lobby patrol, deals with a transgression by Blue, a pornodroid. But instead of destroying Blue, who acted out of love, Korse lets her flee, showing empathy as he is also an android, 'malfunctioning' to show emotion.

Issue four- 'Run!'

Korse's relationship to his boyfriend, which he hid from BLI, is discovered. The boyfriend is killed as punishment for Korse letting Blue escape the city. As Korse holds the dead man to his chest, the Head of BLI tells him that he will be sent to the tube for reprogramming.

Issue five- 'Waking the Destroya!'

Korse is being brought to the reprogramming tube, which malfunctions due to the presence of a spider. This gives Korse the occasion to realise that he is not defective, but the system is. He escapes, killing the employees and declaring "Let's party."

Issue six- 'Boom.'

In the conclusion to the series, Korse finds and kills the Head of BLI, who turns out to be only one of many copies of herself. Korse sets to find and destroy all copies, as the Girl and the destroyer (the main characters of the story) take Battery City, freeing all androids. Korse finds the original of the woman, who is old and weak, but spares her as he is done killing. He drops his gun and walks out.

Fanworks

Tropes & Fanon

  • Before the publication of the comics, Korse was a somewhat mysterious character. Fandom often ascribed more or less dark pasts and motives to him, producing a lot of stories where he was obsessed with the Killjoys for one personal reason or another.
  • In fic, Korse's obsession over Gerard/Party Poison often leads to him capturing and/or hurting his frequent love interest Frank/Fun Ghoul (fuelled by a brief scene in the Na Na Na video) or his brother Mikey/Kobra Kid.
  • Because of his status as villain and this supposed personal link, a lot of stories feature dub-con and non-con.

Shipping

As of Jan 12, 2016, there were 148 works using the character tag "Korse" on AO3.[1]

Out of the works featuring him, only a minority feature a Korse ship: Korse/Gerard Way and Korse/Party Poison are the most used ship tag, with 17 works and 15 words respectively, which sometimes overlap.

More exists outside of the AO3 (on kink memes, less-active or defunct Livejournals, Tumblr, FF.net etc) but is not as easily accessible.
