Byakuya Togami is a student from Dangan Ronpa. He is a prominent character within the series and popular with fans. Togami debuted in the first game of the series, Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and he also played a significant role in Dangan Ronpa 3: End of Hope's Peak High School.

Togami's birthday is on May 5th. He effectively shares this birthday with the Ultimate Imposter. In Japan, this is Children's Day, a piece of trivia which may be referenced in fanworks. When western fans became aware in 2013 that the Byakuya Togami seen in Goodbye Despair was an imposter, many memes were made for the idea that with every new Dangan Ronpa entry, Togami would somehow participate in it. The release of Dangan Ronpa V3: Killing Harmony saw no serious return of Togami unfortunately.

  • Togami is also shipped with Toko Fukawa, which is F/M, aka NL. In Japanese, this is called 十腐, meaning Togami attacks and Fukawa receives in the coupling. Fukawa's one-sided crush for him was consistent throughout most of Trigger Happy Havoc.
  • Kirigiri & Naegi & Togami is also a popular trio, nicknamed Reasoning Trio in English and [x] in Japanese. The polyship of Kirigiri x Naegi x Togami is also common, labelled various things by both Japanese-speaking and English-speaking DR fandom.
