Owned and maintained by Kielle, subreality.com was her personal domain, to host to her various online projects, fannish and otherwise. She also provided email addresses for fanficcers in a period where many of the free sites were becoming more problematic. From the welcome page, an explanation:

www.subreality.com

...houses the writings and HTML obsessions of one Kelly "Kielle" O'Guinn from Southern California, USA. That's me. I aspire to be a "real" page designer, but until then I'm practicing and enjoying myself. Having my own domain is a dream come true! Thank you for stopping by...and thanks to you who made "subreality" a household word. At least, in certain strange households...

Everything I've created is linked to the page you just came here from. Confused? Hold your mouse cursor over each one to bring up an explanation. Here's some hints on the more popular subsites here -- click if you're looking for

  • CFAN or fanfic in general
  • Anything about the Subreality Cafe
  • Stories based on the X-Men movie
  • Any fanfic I've ever written
  • How to get an @subreality.com address
  • My "real" (commercial) work

Welcome to Subreality (Wayback), December 24, 2002

The domain was created sometime around February 1999, based on the appearance of subreality.com email and website addresses on ACFF around that time[1]. Around September 2003, the welcome page for subreality.com was edited to reflect Kielle's movement into the LOTR fandom, with a banner featuring Boromir and Faramir from the movies[2] and a separate section for her professional web design work.

At the time of Kielle's death in September 2002, subreality.com hosted the following subsites:

Middle Earth

Comic Fanfic

General Fandom

Purely Personal

Whim Projects

Webrings/Mailing Lists

There was also a section for subreality.com websites Kielle had created for others, not all of which were fannish in scope.

Current Status

After Kielle's death, Laersyn "adopted out" many of her subsites, while most are only accessible now via the Wayback Machine.
