About

What do you get when you take some of the most popular partnerships in fandom, and stick them in the same science fiction universe?

Sea of Solaris, of course!

Sea of Solaris is set in a marvelous futuristic universe, circa 2789 and created by Robyn LaSalle. As in Star Trek or Babylon 5, there is an alliance of planets, an interstellar Green Peace/United Nations/National Geographic Society called the Galactic Exploration Society, bound together with a common goal. The fleet consists of scientists, adventurers, information gatherers, and ambassadors, striving toward the betterment of all lifeforms through knowledge. New races with ancient conflicts wait for the diplomatic intervention of the GES peacekeeping officers, those men and women who hold dear the preservation of individual expression and freedom. GES’ main base is located on the third planet in the Sol System, Gaia. Earth.

The first tale to come out of this universe was “Ship of Fools,” which originally appeared in Karmic Concurrence 2 and is reprinted here after two years. It established a tense relationship between two people from diverse cultures, and how they overcame their differences.

Next came The Turn of a Friendly Card, a novel which followed a rocky romance between two men who could never seem to connect despite an intense yearning for each other. Both stories were written as Alternate Universe (A/U) for two popular fandoms, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Professionals. Robyn was inspired to apply other ‘couples’ to this genre, just to see what she could come up with.

Fans of homoerotica will enjoy this collection of stories, as each explores a variety of relationships, from the “first timers” to the “old marrieds,” and all the real problems each encounters. Each story is set amidst adventures filled with interesting alien locals and people.

We would like to thank everyone who enjoyed The Turn of a Friendly Card, and showed support of this original universe. We’re sure you’ll find Sea... a fitting addition to your collection. There was a fifth story, “Achate's Quest,” which outgrew it’s boundaries, thus forcing us to put it out as a separate novella; it follows the characters from Turn..., namely Rai Autumnwolf and Jasper Ravenswood (Michael Wincott), on a desperate search for a missing Beauxde.

Another story which did not make it in was “In the Lap of the Gods,” about Jasper and Josh (Kiefer Sutherland) as they encounter another GES expedition team (inspired by the cast of 21 Jump Street). That story will come out in Sea of Solaris 2— should there be enough interest to justify a second issue. Please let us hear from you. Your letters of comment are always welcomed.

There’s nothing left to say now except READ.[2]

Follow the various explorers as they adventure to far-off places and encounter great mysteries in the name of Science. Experience the wonder of discovering the unknown, and share the love and compassion of a handful of brave men and women traversing the cosmos, on the ultimate quest for Peace and Knowledge. This collection contains original, Alternate Universe fiction dedicated to various established fandoms, as well as original pairings. Among them, first Officer Inteus Konane and Capt. Namir Seif (Illya/Napoleon) , who made their debut in Karmic Concurrence 2; free-wheeling Dante Aquarius and the engimatic Chino, the secret agents appearing in Miami Spice 4 (Crockett/Castillo); even Josh Simmons and Jasper Ravenswood as they take off in The Gypsy Spacer. these, and more -- H/P (Hanson/Penhall), K/L (Kiefer/Lou), to name a few -- can be seen in this one-shot anthology fanzine. With space travel, unique wolf-like races and danger around every turn, you'll love this series! And don't miss the fact that while the story is original, Tami likes to 'cast' her characters with beloved people from other shows, such as The Professionals, The Sentinel, Starsky and Hutch, Ladyhawke and more! With wonderful artwork by Koz, see who you can spot! [4]

An alternate universe, multi-fandom crossover with a science fiction setting involving space travel and wolflike creatures. The Pros characters are presented as Raimon Autumnwolf, who is searching for his missing mate, Beauxde' Ravenswood, who has possibly been kidnapped. All the characters are inspired by media ones, but without their identities. [5]
