Project: Wade and Quinn was a fanfiction mailing list and archive dedicated to the romantic pairing of Wade Wells and Quinn Mallory from Sliders.
It is documented here as part of the OTW's GeoCities Rescue Project.
History
"At the end of the third season, Wade and Quinn shippers were totally outraged at a certain event at the last episode. So a lot of us made up fanfic to rectify the situation which the show had made. When we discussed it, we were often criticized and ridiculed by those who didn't feel the same way. So Jessica Golden posted a message to the SLFIC list (with a few parts cut out, but this is it, I swear):
O.K. It seems like a few people have an intrest in a creative acrchive for Wade-Quinn romance fanfic. If you would like to join e-mail me. If you would like to offer your service's i.e. beta-reader, writer, archiver or anything else e-mail me. There will be a separate web page for this, most likely geocities as well as an e-mail account. If someone would like to be kind of a manager (with help from me) say so."[1]
The first story was posted to the list on 28 October 1997, and the website went live in February 1998. At this time there were 20 people on the list.
List & Archive Rules
The rules/submission guidelines for P:WQ included the following:
- NC-17 rated stories were forbidden, because the two moderators were underage and such content was not allowed on GeoCities.
- Due to the small number of members, all were required to send feedback on every story.
- Stories were required to be spell checked.
- It was requested that stories were sent to P:WQ before SLFIC (a general Sliders fanfic list), so as to encourage interest in P:WQ.
Categories
It was also requested that authors add a letter code to every story, so that they could be archived according to category.[2]
However, stories were also archived by both author and title.
