Perla Shumajer is a fanfic author who was active in the fandom from 2006 to 2010, when she disappeared and was never heard from again. Most of her stories are rated M slash. Perla became famous for the questionable quality and inconsistency of her stories, many of which were nearly identical. She started posting her stories on Paraíso Fanfiction and by the time the website died, all of her fics had been reposted all over the internet, so numerous samples of them survive to this day.

There has been a lot of debate as to whether or not Perla Shumajer was a trollficker. Some people believe that she is not, but that she perhaps suffers from dyslexia, since she confused b with d on numerous occasions, while others believe that no one can write such badfics without meaning to.

Perla also was famous for leaving reviews in her own fanfics, pretending to be a reader, even though her writing style was easily recognizable. Sometimes she would not even bother to log out, and left those reviews with her own account. She also flamed other auhors, leaving mean, rude reviews full of typos and grammar mistakes. There are instances where she plagiarized some of the fanfics she flamed.[1]

Perla's Pearls

Perla's followers called "pearls" to the recurring phrases in her fanfics, such as "marry into marriage" or "he was disgusted, angry, hateful, spiteful, terribly tempered, deadly enmity and hated him with all his heart ", also her habit of giving characters extra last names and non-canonical middle names. Her outfits descriptions were also discussed frequently, especially giving the characters garishly colored underwear like lime green or neon yellow. She also used to describe what the characters had for breakfast, which seemed more like a random food list than a real breakfast. She always finished her fics saying "fin de la transmicion" a mispelling of "fin de la transmisión, meaning "end of the broadcast".

Perla's Copycats

Perla inspired people to write their own trollfics using her writing style. Like "La historia que toda autora debe escribir" (The story that every author should write) a drarry story by Nessa j. In 2010, another drarry story was posted by Licantropia called "Harry y Draco se aman y la muerte de Hermione" (Harry and Draco love each other and Hermione's death). Many people considered this story a trollfic that mixed both Perla Shumajer's style and My Immortal style.
