From Macedon:

This story represents a departure from the way Peg and I have previously worked. Both our names are on it because we both wrote sections. Where the POV is Chakotay's, it's me. Where the POV is Janeway, it's Peg. (Logical, as Tuvok would say.)

This story *does* contain semi-graphic portrayal of sex between two consenting adults. We are rating it [R], not [NC-17], because it's not a piece of erotica but a sex scene in a 'novel'. Nevertheless, the regular schpiel applies: minors are not permitted to read it without a parent's approval. [1]

Peg & Joe,

It was great! No, FANTASTIC! Wonderful, stupendous, incredible, outa-this-world (literally!) Best read ever! Put it up for a Hugo! No, not good enough...a Pulitzer (dang, did I spell that right??). STILL not good enough...Nobel prize for literature, that'll do it. Hmm, they do give a Nobel for literature, don't they? Ah, well, even if not, we'll put in for the Nobel in physics. Anyone who can design a floruescent(?) Main Coon with an attitude that'll pop up outta thin air...I'm sure Chessie could explain Shroedinger's Cat to us (sorry folks, some things my spell checker ain't gonna catch). Anyway, where was I...

Better yet, let's get you writing the series. I can see it now...Golden Globes, Peoples' Choice, Emmys, Tonys, Grammys(?), Oscars and even Felixes if ya want them. We'll free Janeway, Chakotay and the rest from the stifling chains of their Paramount personality prison. It will be...beautious! *dramatic sigh*

Yep...ya done good (on the WHOLE Talking Stick series!!!!!!!!!)

Please ma'am and sir, may I have some more???

Seriously <g>, thank you VERY much for several great stories. Please. Tell us more. [2]

After watching "The Q and the Grey", I came very very close to swearing off all Star Trek forever, and most especially Voyager.

"Otterskin" cannot *quite* make up for the fact that the canon material sucks as badly as it does nowadays, but it helps. It helps a great deal.

Boy oh boy, do I wish that Paramount had hired you guys instead of the bozos they have writing for Voyager now. [3]

On a much brighter note, Otterskin is what I *wish* Voyager was. If Voyager was as good as this story I would not need to defend it because everyone would already be glued to their television sets the moment it came on. Bravo, to both of you. I've been waiting a while for this one <smile> [4]

THANK YOU Joe and Peg for giving us not only a good Voyager story, but just a good story. You bring the characters the life they deserve (the characters, as conceived are both very interesting individuals and a team) but the Voyager writers are incapable and/or prevented from providing. [5]

2014

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this series. I love the arc about the integration of Maquis and Fleet, and how that is symbolized by Chakotay and Janeway's romance. I love how you dug into the ugliness and ethical gray areas of both. The individual "episode" plots are great, with fascinating alien worlds and cultures and real dilemmas that feel very Star Trek. The full examination of Chakotay's Indian-ness is so very welcome, and it feels like I know the guy so much better now. Both he and Janeway are in perfect voice, too; I can hear those internal monologues as if spoken by the actors. And then the romance itself feels entirely earned, appropriately mature, and deeply satisfying. Thank you for writing this! [6]

2019

I am a dogperson, not a catlover, but Chessie is something else. Love him! [7]
