Carol Danvers is the alter ego of Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel from the Marvel Comics series The X-Men and The Avengers.

Canon

Carol Danvers possesses the mutant ability of superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and durability along with the ability to fly, as well as energy projection and absorption.

Carol first appeared as in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (March 1968) and first appeared as Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel #1 (January 1977).

She made her first animated appearance in an episode of X-Men: The Animated Series voiced by Roscoe Handford. She also appears as a main character in the The Super Hero Squad Show voiced by Grey DeLisle and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes voiced by Jennifer Hale.

A Captain Marvel film was released on March 8, 2019, with Brie Larson portraying Carol. It is a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fandom

Many fans cosplay Carol, especially her Ms. Marvel costume. Fans of the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel series often refer to themselves as the Carol Corps. They organized on sites like Tumblr, and were a visible presence at cons, often cosplaying various iterations of Carol's costume.

In the lead up to the film, fancasting was often popular on the various websites especially Tumblr.
