Total Drama: Cody's Redemption is a popular second try/redemption AU fic for Cody in the Total Drama fandom. In the fic, Cody, 26 years old and 10 years older than he was in Total Drama: Island (2007), is one day flung into his old self from Island. With what he learned in the following seasons of the show, as well as what he learned after becoming an adult, he has another go at winning the million dollar prize as well as getting a girlfriend. Total Drama has ended, and Cody is still single. All he ever wants is to have someone special in his life. A chance to redeem himself. He's given a second chance as he returns to the island, while coming across some changes. How will he perform this time around, and how will it affect the game and its course? Although Cody's Redemption is one of the most favorited and followed stories on FFN, reception is mixed on other websites. r/TotalDrama in particular riffs on it almost whenever its mentioned, and the story isn't too popular elsewhere either. The fic is commonly criticized for "demonizing" characters such as Gwen and for Cody being OOC in many scenes. It also falls into the Cody Harem trope, a trope specific to Total Drama fanfiction, with his will-they-won't-they relationship with Bridgette and with Lindsay coming off as flat to some readers. There were also some scenes in the fic that were copy and pasted text from PurpleBandit3000's story, with some words changed. However, Bandit was a fan of the fic, as well as its author, so he allowed it.[1]
Many readers liked the engaging story, which rewrote Island, and rooting for Cody along the way, as seen on its reviews page [Unable to archive].

Whoa man. I feel so honored that someone would make a story based on mine. This story looks pretty good so far and Cody is one of my favorite characters so it will be interesting to see how he uses his prior knowledge of events. Faved and followed.

Nice. Tyler obviously made his move, but unlike the first time around Lindsay didn't go for it because she's considering Cody. EXCELLENT! Honestly, out of the TDI guy cast, aside from Tyler (who is seemingly oblivious to Lindsay's flaws) I think Cody is the next best match for her.
In this fic he's been kind, understanding, and above all patient. Just the kind of guy who is perfect for her.

Man Cody is just acting all angry and mad all the time, like anything will blow up his fuse! YES! Cody everyone is here for the money,no one would go pass anything like these chalenges just to make friends,that is obvious. Man all the drama is just getting out of the ears

I love your story. It’s one of the best Cody second chance fanfictions I’ve read I love how you have handled a lot of the characters. I don’t know if you’ll continue it which is why I wanted to leave this review to tell you how much I liked it. If you ever do come back to it then I’ll be here ready to read it.
