Reactions and Reviews

This little story presents a strong case for the satisfaction of revenge and gives an illuminating, though very superficial, look at some of Kirk's darker urges. With all that, it's delightful and endearing and funny. All about the bonded couple, Kirk and Spock's high-jinks in a Gorn- sized bathtub/pool at their hotel suite on the planet Gorn.

The Captain, his First Officer and the rest of the crew had been assigned to shuttle the pig-headed, infuriating High Commissioner Ferris to the planet Gorn. The diplomat's mission: to hammer out the details of a possible treaty between Gorn and the Federation. Remember Ferris, the mean-spirited diplomat who caused Spock, McCoy, Kirk and the crew so much trouble 3 years before when Kirk wanted to search for the Galileo 7 shuttlecraft and his friends and lover on board her? Well, he's just as mean now and in this cute story he gets his just desserts in the huge Gorn shower of his suite. It's delightful, a tubful of comeuppance that made me feel vindicated; I detested that officious devil, so I was laughing as I read along. A. T. Bush is one of my favorites anyway and when I started in on this I knew it would pleasure me. Speaking of pleasuring, Jim and Spock get to do a lot of that in a wonderful love scene on the ship before they arrive at Gorn. Then even more when they are quartered in a fancy-smanchy hotel and get a load of the enormous bed and bathtub in their suite. Sensuous, erotic love scene in that tub, tailored for the 7 foot Gorns. But before that Kirk goes in for a quick shower and is almost scoured to death by the gigantic, wire-like retractable, gorn-sized brushes of the shower stall. Car-wash brushes, Kirk calls them and, after Spock, alarmed for his bondmate's family jewels and silky epidermis, attends sexily to his human lover's abrasions, they opt for a soothing bath in the enormous bathtub/pool. Afterward impudent Kirk, who is still rubbed the wrong way by the diplomat, causes a flood of trouble for Ferris when he declines to warn him of the rotating, hide-peeling brushes hidden in the shower walls. Wicked Human! In any case, Ferris' suite is a few doors down from the lovers'. So Jim and Spock manage to be coincidentally in the corridor right outside the Ambassador's suite, waiting for developments when Ferris and his female 'secretary' erupt naked and shrieking from the shower and into the hallway. Jim and even Spock could hardly keep the smiles off their faces. Instead they graciously help the secretary by providing her with a Gorn-sized blanket.

This vindicating story makes the rounds of the ship as they wend their way back to base. During that period there's time for another wonderful love scene. In it, Spock's faulty description of a 'blow dry job' and a 'suck job' was really funny. There were both kinds of lovemaking in this story, exciting and comfortable. I liked that, a lot! [1]
