The Way You Remember Me is a charity zine dedicated to the pairing RokuNami (Roxas and Naminé) from the Kingdom Hearts games.

About

The Way You Remember Me is an unofficial, nonprofit, fan project celebrating the Roxas and Naminé ship with the theme centering on the idea of soulmates and the red strings of fate that always bind Roxas and Naminé together no matter what world they find themselves in.[1]

The zine was teased on January 17, 2020, temporarily titled as "RokuNami Crimson Strings of Fate Fanzine"[2]. The zine entered a dormant state for the rest of the year until the beginning of October, when the project's social media account resumed posting[3].

In a frequently asked questions post on January 10, 2021, the zine would be for charity, with proceeds being donated to RedRover[4]. Applications were expected to open on February 14, 2021, but an update prior to the schedule date announced that unforeseen circumstances would delay applications until March 28, 2021, on RokuNami Day[5].

Contributor applications opened on March 27, 2021, for writers and artists[6]. An option to apply as a merch artist was added to the application later[7]. Applications closed on May 14, 2021[8]. Result emails were sent out on May 22, 2021[9].

Preorders opened on January 22, 2022, with the following pricing tiers[10]:

  • Digital Twilight Town ($15 USD) - Digital Zine, Desktop Wallpaper, Phone Wallpaper, Coloring Page, Emotes, Icons
  • Crimson Strings of Fate ($25 USD) - Physical Zine, Stretch Goals
  • The Other Promise ($35 USD) - Physical Zine, Bookmarks, Prints, Sticker Sheet, Stretch Goals
  • Destinies Intertwined ($45 USD) - Physical Zine, Bookmarks, Prints, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Charm, Candy Charm, Buttons, Stretch Goals
  • The Way You Remember Me ($60 USD) - Physical Zine, Bookmarks, Prints, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Charm, Candy Charm, Buttons, Rubber Coaster, Pencil Pouch, Enamel Pins, Acrylic Standee, Stretch Goals

The digital bundle was available as an add-on to physical orders for $5 USD[11]. Stretch goals included a print of the zine's cover at 25 orders, and an animal-themed acrylic charm at 50 orders[12]. A giveaway for a full bundle with digital merch was run from February 5 to February 14, 2022[13]. The winner of this giveaway was Twitter usre yoyodraws1[14]. Preorders closed on March 19, 2022[15]. The store opened for one day to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series on March 28, 2022, and RokuNami Day[16].

Shipping of physical orders was scheduled on October 31, 2022[17]. However, due to an emergency going on with the shipping mod's pet dog, orders began shipping out on December 5th[18]. All physical orderse were shipped out by December 23, 2022[19]. Digital bundles were sent out on December 24, 2022[20].

Leftover sales for various bundles and individal merchandise from the project began on February 14, 2023[21]. In honor of RokuNami Day, a 10% discount was offered from March 28th to April 4th[22]. Leftover sales closed on April 30, 2023[23].

The project closed with an announcement that $1,205 USD made from sales was donated to RedRover[24].
