The WIKTT Archives is a Snape/Hermione fanfic archive. As of November 2019, there are about 2,500 SS/HG stories and a few hundred stories for other pairings. The Gallery holds just over 4,000 pieces of art in the SS/HG and other genres. The archive is a section of the website The Masque, founded in 2000,[2] which also hosts original erotica, chat, a BDSM information site, and discussion forums.
The WIKTT Archives is indirectly named after the Yahoo!Group WIKTT, but was not otherwise officially associated with it until 2019. From the FAQ:
The name of the section comes from a story by Quillusion called “Soul Searching” which utilizes a plot device of a “little green book” titled “The WIKtT Archives”, containing stories about the HG/SS relationship. Quillusion’s book was inspired by the YahooGroup “When I Kissed the Teacher” or “WIKtT”, a literary mailing list for authors of the same genre.[3]
The logo for The WIKtT Archives was designed by Jodel at Red Hen for her .pdf of "Soul Searching".
The site is spun off from the original HG/SS site, Whispers. When the webmaster, "hermionegranger" hijacked the site from AzraelGeffen, she asked the WIKtT community's help to copy the site to a new server with the WIKTT name as she no longer controlled the Whispers name.
In 2007, the site was given to BenevolentGoddess and transferred to TheMasque's servers where it underwent a total revamp and reskinning.
In late 2007, the site gained permission to archive all extant material from the defunct Playwitch.org created by Marquis, AncientGirl, and Pearle. Seventy-one of the original files were recovered and are stored in The WIKtT Archives gallery.
In 2008, The WIKTT Archives started the transfer of The SSHG Exchange stories and art to the site for posterity when Live Journal declared pornography/adult material would no longer be hosted.
In April 2017, The WIKtT Archives absorbed Obscurus Books, a defunct, invitation-only fanfiction website.
In October 2019, the chat for WIKTT was restarted by teshara at the site in a WIKTT-Only marked chatroom of TheMasqueNetwork's chat.
In November 2019, ownership of the Yahoo!Group WIKTT was transferred to the owner of The WIKtT Archives when Yahoo started the shut-down of YGroups. All messages from the WIKtT mailing list were transferred to Groups.io and the files, stories, links, and artwork were stored on The WIKtT Archives in specially marked sections of the story section and the gallery. Any dead links from the original WIKTT group's files are stored on the Forums for The WIKtT Archives.
The WIKtT Archives uses eFiction to organize stories, Coppermine to organize artwork, SMF for the shared forum, and Codychat for the chatroom.
