The Voices and the Shadows is an explicit Hannigram slash multi-chapter fic for the Hannibal fandom. It was written by authors darlinghogwarts and MaddyHughes from 2015 to 2017 as a gift to slashyrogue. In the fic, Will Graham is a university student who gets drunk on his birthday and meets one of the teachers at his university in a bar. Things escalate from there to murder threesomes, vivisection, bloodplay, birthday sex and footsies.
The Voices and the Shadows is a well regarded fic in the fandom. Translations into Français and 中文-普通话 國語 are available, as well as at least one recursive fanfiction.

Oh my goodness this is incredible! Vivisection fascinates me and I wish it wouldn’t hurt to experience because I want to see my body working as it’s working. In any case, I was browsing the vivisection tag mostly to see if there were any besides the one venom one I read and my goodness heck I am in love with this!! It’s so well written and I can hear the characters’ voices in every line. Both of you did an amazing job and I will be bookmarking this so I can reread it a few dozen more times 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕[2]

I made it! I actually worried I wouldn't be able to, but you were so kind and reassured me. I was afraid for a bit that Hannibal would actually end up killing Will like he wanted, and I was not emotionally prepared for that. This is one of the best Hannibal fanfictions ever! The way the author captures Wills obsessive voice and Hannibal's fumble through the experience of being a human being is wonderful. I love that Will didn't forgive him the moment Hannibal admitted he was the Chesapeake Ripper which I was expecting. The advice from Franklyn was solid. Bedelia ships it! As well as pretty much everyone else. I feel bad for Marsh though. That guy just couldn't catch a break. I loved Leon and Luna. I really hate to see this story end but I know this is one I'll probably read again.[5]
