The Friends We Refuse to Abandon is the first story in a Dream SMP fanfiction series written by BeatrixGtheMaskedDogNoobsomeExagerjunk (renamed NoobsomeExagerjunk) on Archive of Our Own. "Of course it is," Connor lowered his hood, "it's just interesting, r-really, that our concepts of power, o-of what we like to think power is like, is very...different."

"How do you measure power then, Connor?"

"Well, in my experience , a-and witness , the most powerful people are defined not by how long they last, but rather by how many times they can keep getting up after being knocked down."

ConnorEatsPants could arguably never die. His friends were ghosts and therefore shells, but that never bothered him until his closest, best friend managed to breathe again.

“...Schlatt’s not my friend.”

"No?"

"No. I didn't even know he had any friends at all," Dream began to fidget with the loosely-sewn buttons on his uniform, "or that you were here for him, for that matter."

“W-What do you even want with Schlatt? He respects nobody!” “Nobody but me. Schlatt and I are friends, after all. Not even death can part us.”
