cover by Suzan Lovett: "Minotaurs are Forever"
The centerfold by Suzan Lovett is titled "... wish I was on a sea voyage somewhere." It is an early example of Lovett's art: one can see the artist's pencil style in its infancy along with her choice to depict Captain Kirk with full frontal nudity, an explicitness the artist moved away from in later works. However, even in its raw and unpolished state, the image hints at the artist's skill yet to come. The fact that this image was selected to be a centerfold in the zine indicates that the zine editor found it noteworthy.

The Adult Kirk is an explicit het 109-page Star Trek: TOS fanzine focusing on "James Kirk's inhibited relationship with women."

The cover and the two-page fold-out portrait of a nude Captain Kirk is by Suzan Lovett. Other art by Bev Zuk, Pat Kilner, Suzan Lovett, Barbara P. Gordon, Kate Maynard, and Sherry Veltkamp.

The Editorial

The Adult Kirk would not exist without a lot of help. We'd like to thank our contributors for all their creative efforts, sometimes above and beyond the call of duty. Our special thanks to Beth Carlson (who, when we contacted her for a story, came up with a real winner!); Bev Zuk (who managed to accomplish some magnificent work while preparing for a move); and to Barbara Devereaux and Madalena Mumford, who helped us out more than they will ever know. And our thanks also to Jane Yambe, Pat Kilner, Meg Fine, Sarah Macht DeWitt, Shirley Buck, Barbara Gordon, Cathy Lay and Sherry Veltkamp - it has been a pleasure to work with all of these creative folks, and we hope to bring you more of their work in other Odyssey Press publications! Thanks to all of you!

Two people deserve special kudos. Suzan Lovett has waited patiently for this project to be finished, always giving her full support! Her work, as always, lends grace to our efforts, and we are delighted that she was a part of this project! And to Kate Maynard, we send an extra thanks - she finally bowed under our desperate pleas for artwork to accompany one of the stories - and came through with a product that is, as always, of high quality. (And we promise to never twist your arm again, Kate...until early '85!)

To all who have waited patiently, we thank you for your gentle support and encouragement. Those of you who pre-ordered have made this project possible, quite literally, and we do appreciate you for it. Thanks for believing in us! Many in fandom these days tend to forget that it is those who are willing to pre-order who really make fanzines possible at all. We hope you enjoy The Adult Kirk - our intention has been to present the captain-cum-admiral in what has become a rather unique way, considering the trends in fan fiction lately. And we believe that with the help of our fine contributors, we have managed to do so.
