Combining with Lost Media

This entry may make a better article if combined with Lost Media. This should fill in the examples needed for this page, and change the other from being a stub. The new title could be Lost media with Lost works in the disambiguation page.

I agree with this, lost media page and lost works are discussing the same thing and should be combined. But I think lost works should be a redirect rather than a disambig. I'll move the content over and lost works will redirect to lost media.

Editing

Still learning standard formatting. Help appreciated. 😊 Alessnox (talk) 23:38, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Well, firstly there is no LostWorks template, I not a 100% which template to use, but maybe Template:GlossaryTerm. Also, isn't some of this information covered in Open Doors other articles about OTW and AO3? -- Kingstoken (talk) 18:16, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

To be added

Tin Deck and he lost Homestuck audio archives. The crash of the audiofic archive Removal of AO3 from the title and inserted as a parallel entry. Comment - This is a stub becauseI am editing it in breaks at work. Please be patient. I am trying to be bold. (talk)

Relevance

The real reason that I want to make this entry even though some pages mention loosing works, is because I want to list lost works, and perhaps even recruit treasure hunters to find them.

When the audiofic archive crashed some years back, many works were lost, but some people still have copies of them! A lost work tag might be just the thing to get them reuploaded and put back into the commons.

I'm a big fan of crowdsourcing and tracking down lost fanworks! But, a Fanlore page may not be the best focal point for the actual activity itself. A Fanlore page would be a place to talk about and provide links to fan sites whose focus is to find lost works. And in return, these fan sites could be a place to link to Fanlore for more resources.
Some pages with similar, or overlapping, info (all of these pages could be expanded to include sections on finding and archiving things other than fiction): Keeping Track of Fanworks on the Internet, Permission to Archive, Searching for Fanworks on the Internet, Orphaning Fanworks, Sharing Deleted Fanworks, Deleting Fanworks, Fic Finding Community, List of Finder Communities, and Vid Finders. --MPH (talk) 14:34, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
