I realised that it's become very hard for me to fully enjoy long fics these days. I'm such a perfectionist that any flaw can bother me and niggle at me so that the whole work is tainted by it and I can't lose myself in it. [...] Take the Duncan/Methos, Kronos/Methos fic Shades of Grey I read recently. It's beautiful. God, it's beautiful. Kronos tortures Methos just as Methos tortures Cassandra, there's hot sex and violence in the past and a cool in-control Methos in the present day - but it has the tiny flaw of improbable, OOC dialogue during the D/M sex scene.
